Carbon-Based Electronics

The topic that I have chosen to research is carbon-based electronics. I learned about this topic within the electrical engineering field after I spent hours doing searches on current issues and controversies within the field. Turns out the more interesting topics such as military drones, and bio-mechanical advances pose more of a social issue and controversies rather than an engineering issue, so I settled with carbon-based electrons.

I am interested in this topic because it could change the way that electrical engineers work in the future. Generally, electronics are constructed through copper wiring, but with new research, carbon-based materials have been found to be more efficient, but there are certainly pros and cons to both materials.

Researching this topic could help me to understand advances that may happen within the next few years as well as to be prepare me for those future changes.

Currently, I know very little about this topic. I didn't know carbon-based electronics was even a thought before I began to research a topic for this project.

I hope to learn all of the pros and cons of using carbon rather than using copper with electronics. I would like to understand how carbon was thought to have been a useful element within electronics and how it could change things in the future. I also want to learn any downfalls or environmental risks associated with carbon-based products for electronics.

A potential audience would be other electrical engineers, technologists, those in the technology or electrical field, chemists, and anyone interested in the topic.
